An avid Francophile, Barbara discovered the world of French food when she was 16, living with a Rotary Club family in western Paris. Once home in Philadelphia, she dove into Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and later took cooking courses in Paris. She went on to study international relations and specifically French culture and society at the Institute of French Culture at NYU. During that time, she founded a catering business mostly working for the French community of New York. Barbara moved to Paris in the mid-1980s, and joined the New York Times Paris Bureau. Later she moved to Geneva, and the World Economic Forum, which led her to travel the world and also enhanced her knowledge of food and cooking in different cultures. Now based in Italy, it is all about Italian cooking. With Panchopigna, food and cooking are the focus.
